What is an appropriate capacity value required between Vcc and Vss?

Latest Updated:03/16/2012

Question:

Is a bypass capacitor required between power supply pins (Vcc and Vss)  for asynchronous SRAM? If required, what is an appropriate capacitance value?

Answer:

As an object for the noise absorption on a system board, we recommend adding a laminated type bypass capacitor between Vcc and Vss. A capacitance value is recommended as follows.

  • For high frequency noise : about 0.01uF
  • Low frequency wave noise : about 0.1 uF
