Will result be in same case if FFh is written to the area instead of 00h?

Latest Updated:03/01/2005

Question:

(Flash Memory)   Before executing the erase command in the Flash Memory version, "00h" must be programmed to the target area via either the program or program verify command. If "FFh" is written to the area instead of "00h", will this result in the same condition as if the erase had been executed? [2005/03/01]

Answer:

No, writing "FFh" will not result in the same condition as after execution of the erase command.
Make sure you execute the erase command before writing data to the flash memory.
Additional writes to the on-chip flash memory are prohibited. The only additional write operation allowed is the programming of "00h" to all bytes before the erase command. If "FFh" is written to the memory, a prohibited additional write operation will occur. (#104862)
