Does the MCU requires an external buffer for the D/A Converter?

Latest Updated:12/22/2010

Question:

When the input impedance of the MCU which accepts the D/A Converter output is low such as 100 kΩ, does the MCU requires an external buffer for the D/A Converter?

Answer:

As the D/A Converter output does not include the buffer, it does not have the drive capacity. If the load impedance is low, the accuracy of the D/A Converter is degraded. Typically, such MCU requires an external operational amplifier.
