(RX630) What is the maximum transfer volume (byte count) of the DMAC?

Latest Updated:01/23/2014

Question:

What is the maximum transfer volume (byte count) of the DMAC?

Answer:

It differs by transfer mode.

In normal transfer mode, since the maximum value of the transfer counter is FFFFh, the maximum transfer volume is 65535 long words, that is, 262140 bytes.

In repeat transfer mode, since the maximum value of the transfer counter is 1024 x 1024, the maximum transfer volume is 1 million long words, that is, 4 million bytes.

In block transfer mode, since the maximum value of the transfer counter is also 1024 x 1024, the maximum transfer volume is 1 million long words, that is, 4 million bytes.

For details, please see DMA Transfer Count Register (DMCRA), DMA Block Transfer Count Register (DMCRB), and DMA Transfer Mode Register (DMTMD) in the Register Descriptions section, and Transfer Mode in the Operation section of the DMA Controller (DMACA) chapter of the User's Manual: Hardware.
