What is the size of a double-type variable for CC-RL compiler for RL78?

Latest Updated:04/24/2015

Question:

I am using the CC-RL compiler for RL78 devices. What is the size of a double-type variable?

Answer:

By default, a double-type variable is 4-byte single-precision floating point. When you are using a RL78-S3-core MCU, you can use the -dbl_size option of the compiler to handle a double-type variable as 8-byte double-precision floating point.
This is not the case, however, if you are using an MCU with the RL78-S1 or RL78-S2 core.
