How to refer the content of external address space in the memory panel?

Latest Updated:04/02/2015

Question:

I am using CS+ with the E1 (or E20) to debug projects for RX-family MCUs. However, I cannot refer to contents of the external address space in the memory panel and "?" is displayed for all locations instead when I try to do so.

Answer:

In reference to an external address space, the operating mode of the microcontroller must be set for the connection of a debugging tool.
Set the [Register setting] property as [On-chip ROM enabled extended mode] or [On-chip ROM disabled extended mode] from the pull-down list in the [Operating Modes of CPU] category in the [Connect Settings] tabbed page of the [Property] panel.
If the setting is not correct, "?" is displayed for the external address space. For correct access to the external address space, set the bus controller of the MCU so that the external address space is accessible.
