Is outside area safe: Operation equal to an element using RQJ0602EGDQS

Latest Updated:09/02/2013

Question:

I'm using the RQJ0602EGDQS. Is the area outside of the area of safe operation equivalent to the element destruction area? I'm using the below conditions. Is there any problem?

VDS: -28 V
ID: -70 mA (DC)
Ta: 60℃

Answer:

Since the product ratings are set with a margin, the area outside of the area of safe operation is not necessarily exactly the same as the destruction area of the product. On the other hand, please understand that usage outside of the area of safe operation is not guaranteed, and has the risk of element destruction. Calculating the total power dissipation using the conditions that you have provided results in 1.96 W, which exceeds the rating. For the product in question, the rating is Pch < 1.08 W at Ta = 60℃.
