How do I correctly configure an LCD Panel within the Synergy Software Package (SSP)?

Question:

I want to configure my LCD panel using the SSP configuration for the GLCD HAL module. What do I need to do?

Answer:

It is important to understand the various panel interface parameters prior to configuring them within SSP. Let's first look at the format for the various screen parameters used for configuration. The illustration below shows how the familiar parameters are mapped into the SSP configuration entries.

The above parameters should be fairly familiar and easily mapped into the specifications for a particular LCD panel. Note these two key differences you might notice:

Horizontal Back Porch Cycles. The GLCDC HAL module Horizontal back porch cycles start from the beginning of the Hsync cycle. This means that there are back porch cycles contained within the Hsync cycles.

Vertical Back Porch Lines. GLCD HAL module Vertical porch lines start from the beginning of the Vsync lines. This means that Vertical back porch lines contain Vsync lines.

Example Configurations

The setting example below adjusts the horizontal total cycles, vertical total lines and panel clock division ration to adjust the LCD panel refresh rate to 60Hz. Regarding the LCD panel parameters, see the M7504A data sheet for the details).

This setting example adjusts the horizontal total cycles, vertical total lines and panel clock division ratio to set the LCD panel refresh rate to 60Hz. Regarding the LCD panel parameters, see the M7190A data sheet for details).

This settings example sets the horizontal total cycles and vertical total lines as large as possible to allow for the panel and the LCD panel refresh rate to be about 76.8Hz. Regarding the parameters for the LCD panel, see the LIL9314V data sheet for the details).
