Will it be boot cluster 0 or 1 if memory is erased by any of these programs?

Latest Updated:10/24/2014

Question:

After boot swapping by Flash Self Programming Library Type01 for the RL78 family, if the flash memory is erased by one of the following flash programmers, will the boot area after a reset be boot cluster 0 or boot cluster 1 ?

  • PG-FP5
  • Renesas Flash Programmer

Answer:

After the flash programmer has erased the flash memory, the boot area differs according to the specification of [Operation Mode] when the flash memory was erased.

  • When the specification for [Operation Mode] is [Chip]:
Since the boot flag is initialized by erasing the flash memory, the boot area after a reset will be boot cluster 0.

  • When the specification for [Operation Mode] is other than [Chip]:
After the flash memory is erased, since the value of the boot flag before erasure is retained, the boot area after a reset will be the same as the boot cluster before erasure.
