P6_5 pin put to Vcc level; user interface is 1 clock asynchronous serial

Latest Updated:02/18/2013

According to the E8a Emulator Additional Document for User's Manual (Notes on Connection) for the M16C family MCU, the P6_5 pin should be pulled up at the Vcc (Vcc1) level when the user interface is 1-line clock-asynchronous serial. Why should this be done?

In an M16C family MCU which supports 1-line clock-asynchronous serial, a pulse signal is output from the P6_7 pin after a reset is released when 1-line clock-asynchronous serial is used. Since this signal may cause the user system to malfunction, the P6_5 pin should be pulled up as described in the document.
