How to use part of on-chip Flash as a data area?

Latest Updated:03/07/2012

Question:

I want to use part of on-chip Flash as a data area. Can I divide one block into a program area and a data area, and write to and erase each one separately?

Answer:

No, a write is performed in words and an erase is performed in blocks. Therefore, we recommend that the data area and program areas are assigned to separate blocks because the data and programs assigned to one block can be written to but cannot be erased individually.
