Does the input to the HOLD pin have to be synchronized with the BCLK?

Latest Updated:03/15/2012

Question:

Does the input to the HOLD pin have to be synchronized with the BCLK?

Answer:

Yes. To the HOLD pin, please input a signal that meets the HOLD input setup time and HOLD input hold time specified based on the BCLK.

  1. When HOLD input setup time (tsu(HOLD-BCLK)) and HOLD input hold time (th(BCLK-HOLD)) are satisfied
The MCU enters a hold state on the falling edge of the BCLK and exits from the state on the rising edge of the BCLK.
  2. When HOLD input setup time (tsu(HOLD-BCLK)) and HOLD input hold time (th(BCLK-HOLD)) are not satisfied
The MCU enters a hold state on the falling edge if the next BCLK satisfies the HOLD setup time. The MCU exits from the sate on the rising edge if the next BCLK satisfies the HOLD hold time.
  3. When HOLD input setup time (tsu(HOLD-BCLK)) and HOLD input hold time (th(BCLK-HOLD)) are satisfied
The MCU enters a hold state on the falling edge of the BCLK and exits from the state on the rising edge of the BCLK.
  4. When HOLD input setup time (tsu(HOLD-BCLK)) and HOLD input hold time (th(BCLK-HOLD)) are not satisfied
The MCU does not enter a hold state.
