Are the results the same if A/D conversion is performed multiple times?

Latest Updated:02/27/2012

Question:

When A/D conversion of a certain voltage is performed multiple times with the same channel, are the results the same every time?

Answer:

When A/D conversion is performed multiple times in the same ideal environment, where the power supply voltage, VREF voltage, analog voltage, etc. are stable, the results are theoretically the same.
However, in practice, the conversion value may not be the same because the power supply voltage and analog voltage, etc. may not be in an ideal state with regard to noise etc. This is noticeable when the analog input voltage is near to the digital value of the transition point.
